Avalanche Conditions Prevail

Over a metre of recent snow at 1500m, strong winds and a day of Foehn (so strong, warm wind) meant high avalanche danger in our region so we decided to leave the tops to another day. In fact looking at the hurricane blowing off the summits we would never have got to a “top”.

Scarpa Matrix Ski Touring Boot for Sale

It’s a ski touring (ski mountaineering / ski randonée) boot. Size 27.5 (43.5 or 9.5), so that means a size 28 shell. A great middle of the range boot (so not too heavy and not too soft). One of the most common boots seen out on the hill.

Very Early Season Snow

October 30th 2008. 20cm down at 1000m and 40ish up at 1700m. I missed out on this in favour of a family trip back to the UK. Not bad for October!

It didn’t last long though!
